Monday Made It...canvas, caps, cuteness...

Today I am linkin' up with my super sweet and creative friend
Tara from 4th Grade Frolics
for Monday Made It.
You guys are probably sick of seein' me make canvases with
scrapbook paper, but I can't help it.
They are really hard to mess up...translation...
if I can do it, you can do it...
FOR SURE!
I saw this super cute pin.
My first reaction....I likey...I wanty.

My version:

I painted a canvas black.
Cut out some scrapbook circles usin' the ribbon
container as a guide.
Mod Podged them down on the bottom.
Used a silver Sharpie to make the circles and
write my name.
Pulled out the cute ribbon I scored at
Hobby Lobby this week.
50% off...love!
Hot glued the green ribbon on the back.
Knotted the other colors of ribbon around the green.
Mod Podged the whole canvas.
Jerm made somethin' for Monday Made It too.
'Merica!

See...I knew drinkin' those adult beverages would come in handy
one day.
Just kiddin'...he got some most of them from work.

I'm lucky he likes to be crafty with me on rainy days.
Don't mind the deer in the back...it's probably not watchin' you like
I think it watches me.
Cue song in your head...
"I always feel like...somebody's
watchin' me....."
Is it stuck in your head?
Good...keep readin'!
Speakin' of rainy days...we were all set to go out on
the boat the other day
and it was lightnin' and thunderin' again...
it is Florida after all.
So...not a good day for fishin'.
I don't do lightnin'.
Instead, Jerm and I had a lunch date and
then spent an hour or so cruisin'
through our new Michael's on the beach.
I ran across a cute lil' wooden owl
that was on sale for $1.19.
Um...YES!
In the cart it went.
I may or may not have given it a name and
talked to it in the store.
Yes, I think it's perfectly normal to talk to inanimate objects.

I really wish you could see the glitter paint.
So sparkly!
That butt.
Funny!
I don't have an owl theme,
but keep readin' to see what I plan
to do with this cuteness!
So...what to do with this lil' guy?

If I catch anyone bein'...let's say...mischievous...
or causin' shenanigans...
I will stick this lil' guy on their table
to...well...STARE AT THEM!
It's my way of sayin' "I'll be watchin' you!"...
only it would be more appropriate to say,
"OWL BE WATCHING YOU!"
Still singin' the song from earlier?

You might not all have a Michael's...or maybe you
don't feel like paintin'...or maybe you dislike glitter...
(FYI: I don't trust people that don't like glitter)
Either way...I made you a FREEBIE!

It's not as cute as my lil' guy,
but...it's FREE.
Who doesn't like free?

Get ready...something big is comin' your way!
I'm super duper excited for Friday to get here!

Congrats to Lori from Learning by the Seashore

  3. I love your sign! So cute! I'm needing to change mine a little (I have the one with the painted dots, too) since I'm changing my colors, maybe I'll just cover the purple dots with orange paper! Brilliant :)

    1. There were a ton left....I'm almost scared to ask what other type of cap art will be goin' on. There really only needs to be one cap flag per househould. Maybe he can cover a table with them, to put outdoors!

  5. That owl is adorable! I have the same, but birds instead of owls, with those metal legs. I just think they are so stinkin' cute! I like the idea of those "watching you" signs....maybe it'll keep the kiddos more behaved. Your door sign is wonderful...I need to make one for myself!

  15. Ok, just remember how much you love me prior to me saying this. I hate glitter. Like, hate it. I will do anything I can to NOT pull out the glitter in my classroom. But remember, you love me.

And I LOVE all of your made-its. Even the glittery owl. So lovely!!

  19. By the time I finished reading your post, I was LOLing! I love the owl butt! What a cute idea! My 2nd graders would eat that up. They would probably be mischievous to get the owl on their desk. I am thinking of a "friend" from last year in particular. :)

  20. Hands down my favorite sentence: I don't trust someone who doesn't like glitter. Also that canvas is giving me ideas...insert scary laughs...I have to go back to Houston this week to celebrate my sister completing her associate's degree...cough 6 years later...and I want to make something sweet but embarrassing but funny to give to her. Perhaps you should just come down here and we can throw glitter on her...cheap, funny and there will be maragaritas!

  21. Wow! You are so lucky that your man will go with you to Michaels. I don't think mine would choose to do that any more. I love your canvas sign! It is soooooo cute! That is a great idea for the owl. I wonder what his name is...

  30. I'm finally getting around to checking out all the MMI's. Love the canvases! Simple and AWESOME!!!!! My kiddos would roll on the floor over your "OWL be watching you!" They just got into puns at the end of fifth grade. They've been emailing and IM'ing me over summer and trying to include puns in their writing. Some are funny, some are SAD!

    Have a OWL-fully good week!

  33. I am lovin' that black canvas sign! I totally need one of those for my room. I don't think I could write that cute with the silver sharpie though. The flag is too cool. I was gonna show the hubs but then I decided it might not be too good of an idea. He has not been saving caps, but If he saw that flag he might make it a mission to save as many as possible ASAP...lol. I happen to love glitter, just not always with my Kinders.. Ha! Ha! Thanks 'cause that song will be stuck in my head for days now...

  35. LOVE all your Monday Made Its.

But- I will be totally honest. I LOATH glitter. That stuff is impossible to clean up and get rid of. That's my type A side coming out. Can't handle it. However, I do love glitter glue and glitter paint... does that count? I don't want you to not trust me. =)

The Owl is adorable and a great idea. What a good reminder for those misbehavin' students.
