Monday Meet Me and a giveaway...

Today is my last day of work.
My checklist is almost complete.
It's goin' to be awfully quite in there today without
my Rockstars in the room.

I'm linkin' up with The Teaching Tribune for

My Monday Meet Me

I teach:  5th grade Talented and Gifted.
Next year I will be startin' my 17th year of teachin'.
It doesn't even seem possible sometimes.
I am just comin' off a two year loop from 4th to 5th.
I'm happy to announce that I will get to stay in the same grade level
after 8 years of loopin' and switchin' grade levels every year.
I'm excited because I feel like I will finally get to be an
expert at a grade level instead of scramblin' around
for new and innovative things all year.
I tried some really neat things this year that
I'd like to use again with the next group.
I'll still be on the hunt this summer for awesome stuff
you guys have already created!

I have: two more days until I'm in California with my parents.
It's been a long two weeks after the loss of my Nitty.
It will be good for my parents and I to decompress and spend some
quality time with one another.
We already have some plans to go to some Red Sox games in Oakland
and a weekend trip to Pismo Beach for some relaxation and waves.

I watch: a TON of Netflix and DVRed T.V. shows.
It keeps my mind busy and gives me
something to do in my down time.
Right now I'm on Season 2 of Orange is the New Black.
I had to go back and watch some of the first season to refresh my memory.

I listen: to many different genres of music.
If I'm in my car, I listen to Drum and Bass...at a high volume.
If I'm in Jerm's truck, I listen to Country.
If I'm on the treadmill...which isn't often, I listen to Heavy Metal.
My music changes accordin' to my mood.
I heart music!

I read: anything and everything that I can get my hands on.
I'm definitely a book hoarder on my Kindle.
I thought I would miss holdin' a real book and readin', but I really don't.
It's just so much easier to cart around.
I currently have about 650 books that need to be read.
I'm hopin' my time in California will help knock this number down.

I do: love cilantro.  A LOT!
I seriously would eat it with every meal if I could.
Yummy!

Congratulations to my friend Jessica from Literacy Spark

enter to win.

    1. I will have to check out Pismo Fish & Chips. I know we will be eating one night in San Luis Obispo at F.McLintock's. It has been several years since I have been to Pismo, so I'm sure a great deal has changed. Can't wait to revisit! :)

  5. I love me some Orange as well. :) The hubs and I rewatched all of season 1 last week so that we were ready to go when the second season was released. We have already watched a few episodes and it is OH SO GOOD! I wish I could go to California- I have never been there! Sounds like you will have tons of fun. Enjoy your last day!

  7. I knew we were kindred spirits! I LOVE cilantro too!
I haven't started Orange is the New Black Season 2 yet. I'm saving it for when school is out for me. I also have to watch the second season of House of Cards.
Have an awesome time in Cali! Make sure to keep in touch.

  8. So happy you are about to head out for some time with your parents. Enjoy your time and I hope that it is a time you are able to celebrate Nitty.
Hooray for another year in 5th! I always joke with my kids that I keep getting retained. You know, they never let the great ones out of 5th grade!
When we finally meet in person, we are going to sit, eat cilantro, and talk all night!
    Have a great trip! Xoxoxoxo

  9. I died laughing when I saw you love cilantro!!! Me, too! But unfortunately my husband has that gene that makes cilantro taste like soap. So no eating it in this household :( Did you know about that crazy gene?! Safe travels too you :) A month of visiting sounds wonderful!

    1. SOAP? No...that would be AWFUL! I seriously would be depressed if there was ever a cilantro shortage in the world. I don't even want to think about that!!!

  10. At least your book hoarding doesn't fill up your house! I have books everywhere between my husband, myself and my daughter. I wouldn't have it any other way. We love our books! :)

I'm a little late on this…but I'm sorry to hear about your Nitty. I hope that you relish in the time you have with your parents and really relax. :)
