and last, but certainly not least...

First things first...
I have to tell myself this every single day of my life.
Family first.
Go will still be there tomorrow.

I'm goin' to do a techy throwback again to somethin' that I think
would benefit every grade level.

The Hour of Code is COMIN' BACK
Mark your calendars for December 8th through the 14th, 2014.
I know this is a long way away, but you DON'T want to miss this!

My technology throwback:

The Hour of Code

I got an email from Donors Choose at the end of October titled "The Hour of Code is coming".  I quickly read through it and then saved it in my inbox.  Several days later, my Admin said we needed to watch a short video about "The Hour of Code" that our District wanted us to watch.  The next day our mornin' announcements had a video that had music and the words "The Hour of Code is coming in 32 days".  The kids were all askin'...."What is the Hour of Code?" was everywhere!
So, I got onto Computer Science Education Week's website with the help of my pod bestie, J.R., to find a short video to entice the kids even more.

So...what does this even mean you might be askin'...
Basically, durin' Computer Science Education Week, we will spend at least one hour writin' code in our classroom.   My students and I will choose from a variety of one hour tutorials in order to participate.  I've read that no prior experience seems to be needed and it states that computers are optional.

I'm definitely intrigued and will be doin' some more research on the Hour of Code to pick out exactly what we will be doin' durin' the week.

Is anyone else participatin' in this?

I PROMISE YOU...You want to do this with your kids!!!

My sweet friend Laura from Learning, Lessons, and Life was talkin'
about movie theater popcorn the other day and it got me thinkin' about
how much I LOVE POPCORN.
My other sweet friend AMC from Elementary AMC has also
been subjected to havin' to hear about my obsession with
movie theater popcorn.  She probably wishes I would just get up
off my couch already and go get some.

Surely I'm not the only one that does this???

How have I gone my whole life without knowin' there was such a
thing as National Popcorn Day?
It occurs on January 19th.
You need to write this in your calendar too...RIGHT NOW...
you seriously aren't movin' fast enough...we CAN'T miss this!
This is excitin' as the Hour of Code comin' back.

Happy Thursday, friends!

    1. Aww..thanks! How many link-ups in one post is too many? I want to do every single one I come across, but it's just not possible. Today was fun trying to tie them altogether though! I hope everyone has a great sense of humor!

  2. Movie theater popcorn IS the best!!! I didn't know there was a National Popcorn Day...added it to my calendar! Thanks for making me a part of your post today. :)

  7. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your post! You have me hooked about the Hour of Code. Are you kidding me? Popcorn? Of course I eat it alone, of course I have eaten it for dinner, of course theater corn is the bomb! BTW, have you heard of the Whirlpop Popcorn pan? Theater corn at home, I'm tellin' ya! Thanks so much for linking up!!!!!

  8. I was Eating Popcorn when I read your post and choked! That's because you are so funny and your posts always put me in a better mood!

  9. I think it's great that you intertwined all the link-ups - why miss out on the fun if you don't have to? And yes, I too have eaten popcorn for dinner!

  10. I kept going back the the HOC website all year. IT was great and the kids loved it because they could pick up where they left off or start something new.

My sister gave me bacon flavored popcorn for christmas. I have not had any yet--but now I might have to make it tonight!

  11. Boy you are the Queen of link ups today! Love all your posts. Especially agree with your teacher tip! I too love me some popcorn, especially at the movie theater. I may have to take the boys to the movies just to get

    1. I've done it. I felt like such a rebel!!! Lol!

  14. About 15 years ago, I ate a bowl of popcorn and baby carrots for dinner every night. I lost a bunch of weight! For some reason it tasted delicious to me.....handful of popcorn, a carrot or two, repeat. I tried it a few years ago because I knew it worked for me, and it wasn't the same. Boo! Just the other night I had a hankerin' for some popcorn, and boy was it good. Got that craving again last night, and not a single bag in my house!!! Boy was I disappointed! Must buy some today.

  15. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I had heard so much about coding but haven't swung the doors open yet! You've sparked it in me to try!

  16. Movie theatre popcorn makes an okay movie a great movie experience. Talking about move theatre popcorn while at home watching a movie makes even a great movie a little disappointing - you just get the feeling the movie was missing something : )
I really appreciated learning about the Hour of Code last year from you and Matt - until they could not get enough of it and wanted to code all the time!!! You should check out too.

  17. Ha! Anytime my wife goes out of town and leaves me home alone I end up eating popcorn for dinner! Thanks for linking up!

  18. Hour of code? Where have I been? With the love of gaming, I'm sure 4th graders would LOVE this! Pinned!
My favorite popcorn at home is kettle corn but I do love movie theater popcorn. My friend in college worked at a movie theater though and she always told me that if I knew what went on behind the scenes, I would never eat it again. Yikes! Sorry!! Maybe it was just where she worked. ;)
