Elvis and the Underdogs...Tried it Tuesday

I'm pretty sure that Tried it Tuesday
was the only thing I actually had planned
over my Spring Break.
I like this no routine stuff.
I'd make a fabulous stay-at-home teacher.
I'm linkin' up with one of my BBB's, Holly,

My Tried It Awesomeness #1:
Elvis and the Underdogs by Jenny Lee

Who blogged about this book already?
I read so many blogs, but
I can't for the life of me remember who
is responsible for suggestin' this book.
I want to THANK YOU!
This is one of the funniest books I have read to
the kids in a looooong time.
They snickered so much while I read aloud.
I finished readin' this to them in less than two weeks
AND it has 300 pages.
It's THAT funny!

The author, Jenny Lee, was a writer and producer
for The Disney Channel's show, Shake it Up! for three years.

Have you read Wonder by R.J. Palacio with your class?
If you nodded your head "yes", then
I would suggest pickin' this one up also.
Your kids will thank you!
Never heard of Wonder?
Check out
what my kids did here and here
and then do your kids a favor and
buy Wonder AND Elvis and the Underdogs!.
Then you can thank ME!

Reviews from my kids:
"Elvis and the Underdogs was a fantastic book
that had a lot of changes and emotions." ~Audge

"This book was a LOL(laugh out loud) book with a lot of twists
and turns throughout the story." ~Ava

"The characters were entertaining and
made me want to read
it again." ~Mike

"This was an amazing book.
Elvis was intelligently funny."
~Devin

"Elvis and the Underdogs was a hilarious book
with a tinge of sadness, but very enjoyable."
~Alex

The rockstars have spoken...take their word for it
and check out the book.
It's cute!

Tried it Awesomeness #2:
I keep readin' about Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt, so
I needed to try it.  Only problem, I didn't have any chocolate chips.
So...I put in a tablespoon of peanut butter into my vanilla Greek Yogurt
and stirred.  It was yumm-o!
I don't even think I want to try addin' the honey or chocolate chips now.
Does this count as cookin' or bakin'?
If so, I'm a pro in the kitchen now!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

  1. I definitely think adding PB to your Greek Yogurt counts as cookin' & bakin' especially during spring break! I love your blog. You are inspiring me. Thank you

  3. My husband happens to be on leave this week while I'm on spring break, so I feel obligated to cook.. like, 3 meals a day! I want yogurt to pass for meeeeee! It does sound yummy, though, minus the yogurt, more real cookies and peanut butter. :)

    1. Did you say you are baking real cookies with peanut butter? What time should I be over to your house? It will only take me about an hour! :)

  5. I'm going to check out that book! It sounds great. My breakfast is Greek yogurt and sunflower seeds. That's about all I can manage. I may try a little vanilla greek yogurt with nutella. My colleagues say I'm a closet nutella eater. LOL
Glad to hear you are enjoying your break!

  6. I've had this cookie dough thing pinned for about a year now. I think I should do it now that I know it has your stamp of approval, but I will definitely add chocolate chips!!! :)

  9. Haha!! You had me laughing at the "stay at home teacher" comment! Wouldn't that be grand? :) Elvis and the Underdogs looks like a must read that I NEED to check out!

Adding pb to your yogurt is totally baking! I am intrigued by the chocolate chip cookie dough yogurt. Is that something people are buying or making?? Sounds right up my alley! :)

  10. Ok, chocolate chip cookie dough yogurt sounds gross--unless it's frozen yogurt. ; )

Elvis and the Underdogs is on my Amazon list! Coming soon to a classroom near me...

  12. Gotta check that book out. Is that dog like the anti-clifford, because I would like that.
I'm pretty sure that any time you blend two food together it is considered cooking (even if you just think about doing that it counts).
Do you have a vitamin? we've been making super healthy shakes like crazy and we always throw in a little peanut butter. Great--no I have to go make a shake.

    see ya

  13. I think you'd be a great stay at home teacher as long as I could stay at home with you! I'm adding it to my cart right now-if you say it's great, then it has to be! I can't believe you finished in 2 weeks! That's crazy fast! I love how you included the student reviews!

  15. I'm going to have to definitely check out Elvis and the Underdogs! Sounds like a great read for me and for my students :) I also love that you broke free from routines on you break! I've really been trying to not schedule things but then it seems like things keep popping up - although today was a day of shopping which is not part of my normal routine!

Love all your posts! Hope you enjoy the rest of your break!
