Five for Friday...let's give this a whirl...

Today I am linkin' up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.  I'm extremely excited because this is my very first time linkin' up for this.  I hope I do this correctly!

Let's give this a whirl...
I saw this pin on Pinterest and begged Jerm to please make this for me.  We laughed about whether it would be a success or a fail.  My vote is...success.

Definite yummy for sure.

Miss Nelson and I went to a local craft fair over the weekend and ran across this cute sign.
I couldn't help the laughter from peelin' out of my mouth the instant my eyes made contact with it.

It was a little hefty in price...$18.

The Hour of Code is Coming...read about it here.  I'm so excited...and so are my kiddos!
You should definitely check this out!

I'm sure many of you out there have the dreaded allergies like I do.  Last year I had the needle test to find out exactly what was botherin' me so much.  Turns out I'm allergic to EVERYTHING...minus Pecan Trees, Sabal Palms, and COCKROACHES...I could have gone my whole life without knowin' that.  So gross!  I bought somethin' that helps me with all the stuff whippin' around the air.  Enter the RainMate Air Purifier with Now Essential Oils(I use these instead of the Rainbow brand).
I shopped around Amazon and eBay to find the very best deal.  I ordered one for home AND school. Smartest purchases in a really long time!  I'm considerin' these for Christmas gifts.
The water is blue in this picture...in real life it's clear.

I use this brand because it has proven to have the longest lastin' scent.  Trust me...I've tried many different brands.  Peppermint is by far my favorite scent.
I order them on Amazon for the best prices.
Here is what it looks like in my classroom.

Joanne, from Head Over Heels for Teaching, and I were havin' a conversation the other night about names versus numbers in the classroom...she is so awesome for always lettin' me babble via email.
I heart her!
I pretty much use numbers on everything.  One year I had 38 different students in my class and the class size was 18.  It was a huge transition year for me and I promised to never write names
 on anything again.
Anyways, I was tellin' Joanne that I keep a list of the students' numbers and names taped on my computer for instant access(I must give credit to my pod bestie, M.J., for this brilliant idea).  If someone moves, I can easily change the digital copy and replace this.  I would then give my students a new number to use and remember.

The list is to the right of my computer screen...held up by two pieces of
 blue sticky tacky.

Up close picture of the names on a scrapbook piece of paper and laminated to make it more durable.

I'm glad I officially hopped in on Five for Friday.
Be sure to check out posts from everyone else here.

  2. I hear you about the allergies! I am allergic to everything too. Are you also allergic to foods? I am allergic to almost everything you want to eat, including wheat and chocolate. :( I have never seen that air purifier before. I would love to know how it works out for you!

  4. This is the first year I've done numbers instead of names and it's been great! The kids will be working on something in math and I will overhear one say... hey, that's my number! :)

  8. I love the sign! I am seriously thinking of using numbers next year - so may bloggers use them and speak so highly of them because of the time it saves. I am also your newest follower and found you through 5 for Friday

  9. I have always used numbers and LOVE it. I can reuse so many things because I number them. I will say, though, that I don't change my numbers throughout the year. When a kid leaves, that number just "disappears". (right now I'm missing 3 and 14) And when I get a new kid I just stick them with an open number, or add them to the end. It seems to work for me.
