Well, hello my bloggy friends.
It's Saturday...
time to link up with super sweet friend Joanne from
After you leave here, make sure you jump on over to her blog or
Holly's blog at Fourth Grade Flipper to enter their awesome giveaways
they have goin' on.
Every day they are featurnin' three different awesome bloggers.
You don't want to miss this.
I have blogged about this idea of sparkin' student motivation before,
but I felt like it needed to be brought up again.
You can read about my first post here.
I like to involve my students in as much as possible.
Why?
It's important for them to be a part of their learnin'.
If I always tell them what I expect without tellin' them why...
I won't get the results I am lookin' for and it defeats the purpose.
They want to work hard.
They want to work smart.
They want to be motivated.
They want to do well for me.
They want to do well for themselves.
My sweet friend AMC at Looking from Third to Fourth made
adorable Winter themed number cards for her calendar.
They are a Fan Freebie on her Facebook page.
I am usin' them for Finished and Unfinished Work.
I involved my students by havin' them help me put up their own numbers.
I had them hang them up.
This motivates them to know they still have work to do or
to have the satisfaction of knowin' they have completed what I have asked them to do.
It's really quite simple.
It works.
Also, I juiced this week for 4 1/2 days.
My friend Miss Nelson and I did it together.
I lost NINE pounds.
I feel healthy.
A healthy teacher makes a happy teacher.
A happy teacher makes for happy students.
Happy students work harder.
Involve them.
They wanted to shake my juice.
They wanted to rinse out the jar when it was empty.
They wanted to put my coconut water in the fridge.
They encouraged.
They sparked motivation...
in ME!
Happy Saturday!
I woke up to a tornado warnin' and to take cover.
It has passed.
I'm goin' for a pedicure and to yell loud for the Saints to win!
WHO DAT!
Nine pounds is amazing! You are motivating me! Time to buy a blender/juicer, veggies...you wanna foot the bill for this motivation?!?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for using the numbers! Wow!! 9 pounds is awesome! Way to go!

Way to go with juicing! I've been using juice to supplement my meals through the week. I haven't lost 9 pounds, though! Go you!

OMG - a tornada warning - see that is what a basement is for!! Congrats on the nine pounds - that is inspiring. I am not juicing but I have not had any Pepsi since December 31st, 2013 (I like to say since last year, it sounds so impressive) and am trying to take baby steps. Glad you can use the calendar cards - next month monkeys with hearts - too cute!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on completing 4 1/2 days of juicing and the nine pounds!!! You are certainly motivating me! What sweet little students you have that kept encouraging you throughout the week!
ReplyDeleteLove!

Wow! Good job on the juicin'. Back to WW for me on Thursday. Time to do something about this unhappy body. =(
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Kelly! I tried WW for a little bit. I did okay with it. I was really bad about recording my points. :(
Delete9 pounds? Yea!!! I have been trying to drink a Green Smoothie daily ... It hasn't happened daily but pretty close to it. My daughter is even doing it. It's nice having a Buddy and even sweeter when they are your own students. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Debbie! Yes, it truly does help to have a buddy. Makes it so much easier to stay motivated.
DeleteCongratulations on your weight loss!
ReplyDeleteI agree about getting the students involved. Ownership plays a huge role in motivation!

Fit to be Fourth
Thanks, Mary! Yep, yep, yep...so true!
DeleteWhoa! You lost nine pounds in one week? Holy cow! That's so awesome! And I love that your students wanted to get involved! How sweet!! I love the idea of using AMC's calendar cards for unfinished work!! I always have about 3 out of my 28 that can never get their work done on time. I wonder if this would help...I may have to try it!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Sunday!

Wow! That juice really works-9 pounds? You go girl! Isn't it so motivational when your kids encourage you? You don't want to disappoint them! :) I love the way you used AMC's numbers-you're so clever! Great visual for the kids and a great reminder! My students can't ever "remember" if they turned in an assignment! (That means they didn't!) Thanks for sharing and linking up my friend!

We've got a vitamin (which is awesome), but it has been in the negatives so I don't want to drink anything too cold--but now You've got me thinking that I should since the holiday season is over. Stop motivating me!

9 lbs!!! Way to go girl! Juicing is not easy, but having 9 lbs. melt off of you feels so great, it's worth it, huh?

I am pretty happy to see that students are involved in extra curriculum activities which are good enough to build learning interest in them. What you think when someone asked you to write an essay upon difficult topic? Majority of people feel worries but with the help of http://www.vipessayservice.com/blog/writing-a-personal-statement it is quite easy to write essay for getting good grades.
