It's Saturday and I'm linkin' up to Run! Miss Nelson's Got the Camera for her Saturday Snapshots.
The idea of Saturday Snapshots is to capture moments or memories in your life, so you can look back and reminisce about those special times. Miss Nelson has a great eye for photography. The last time I took a photography class was when I was in high school. Of course I don't remember a thing I learned, so I will have to depend on my silly lil' iPhone to capture my memories.
Since I'm spending some time at my Nitty's(my grandmother, for the newbies), I thought I'd share some snapshots from her house on my month long trip. She's got some great antique-y things hangin' around here that constantly catch my eye. I even just learned that she used to have an antique store. Who knew? She tells me somethin' new every day...either that or I've been hangin' out under a rock my entire life and blockin' all the really cool stuff out (I will never admit I'm gettin' old and forgettin' stuff).
Lucky for me, she is feedin' me while I'm visitin'.
Every night she gives me a treat...IF(that's a big if), I've behaved.
Got some new shoes...high heels. Let's see how long I'll actually keep them on my feet. I'm more of a flip flop girl and am very thankful I live in a beach town...year round.
Since I don't spend much time in the kitchen, I have no idea what these are used for or if they are even used; they look snazzy though, so I snapped them. That thing in the left hand corner looks like some kind of torture tool out of a scary movie though, right? Nitty says they are ice tongs. Supposedly, when people used to get blocks of ice, from the ice house(they delivered) and put them in ice boxes, you would use the tongs to get the ice out. She says that now they are just used for decoration and she has seen people put rolls of paper towels on them. I still say, SCARY!
This has been hangin' on the wall as long as I can remember.
It's not electrified, it's more for novelty, accordin' to Nitty.
If you electrify it, it loses its value.
My view from the couch right now.
Yes, this works...and yes, I've won money on it and lost even more. It takes dimes. Nifty, right?
Dinin' room hangin' lamp thingy.
A heater. My Papa put a light in it for it to look like it is burnin'.
I was too chicken to plug it in, so Nit-Nit took care of it for me.

Painted glass lamp. So pretty!
Even better shot.
I'm goin' to look for more shots when it's light outside. There are lots of treasures to be found around here and I'm enjoyin' the stories that are goin' with them, even if it really does feel like it's the first time I've heard them...ever!
OMG! I love your toes...super cute! Might have to get that done with my next pedi. Teaching with Giggles

Thank you! I can't wait to try somethin' new on my toes, now that I've taken the plunge into the wonderful world of toe nail design!
DeleteYour Grandmother's house is adorable! I love all of the vintage goodies! And that salad looked delish!
ReplyDeleteThank you! My grandmother is proud of all of her "stuff". :)
DeleteDid I read that your visit is a month long? How wonderful is that! I have a few of those same scary looking kitchen utensils. They make great writing prompts for my 5th graders. I set one under the Elmo and they can either write about what they think it was used for or make up their own use. They love it! Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Life in Room 24
Oh what a great idea, Lori! I need to do something like that. I used to have an Elmo and LOVED it. My county purchased us Smart Doc cameras and I miss my Elmo. Thanks for stopping by. I'm adding some more pictures tomorrow of my Nitty's treasures!
DeleteLoved seeing all of Nitty's unique treasures. Enjoy your time with her.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Miss Nelson. Thanks to you I have been snappin' more unique treasures today. I think I'll add them tomorrow.
DeleteYou and your Nitty seem to have a very special relationship. I also have one of those rare special relationships with my grandmother and I wouldn't trade it for the world!!! :)
