How to draw a Valentine's monkey...Tried it Tuesday

It's Tuesday...time to link-up with my sweet friend Holly
Tried it Tuesday.

It's no secret that I'm addicted to Pinterest.
You can find me here.
With the help of Pinterest and my bestie, I
discovered Art for Kids Hub not too long ago.
I like this site because the artist normally attaches
a YouTube video for students to get a step-by-step
and there are so many options to choose from.
http://artforkidshub.com/how-to-draw/
Also...here is the artist's, Rob Jensen, Pinterest page.
if you are interested in followin' him.
(Holy moly...Rob found my blog post...he wrote to ME.
I am ECSTATIC...I just showed my kids and they are FLIPPIN' out.
We feel like real-life ROCKSTARS!)

Tried it Awesomeness : How to draw a Valentine's monkey
(My sweet friend, Erin aka Miss Lifesaver is goin' to LOVE this
because she loves monkeys!)

I browsed many drawin' choices on the
I finally found one I wanted to use for Valentine's...
a monkey.
Technically, it's not for Valentine's, but
I am makin' my 5th graders be my Valentine this year,
so...they had to draw me a Valentine's monkey.
Only thing...they only had the tutorial for the head.
They had to get creative on their own for the body.

I've been pushin' my kids hard.
We needed a break.
Drawin' was the answer.
Music on, crayons out, brains decompressed.

In the drawin' process...

Get ready for a picture overload.
I couldn't leave any out.
So precious...I want to squeeze all their cheeks.
The monkeys...not my babies.

Monday Made It that Sparks Student Motivation...Valentine's is on the way...

This week has been a blur.
I'm behind on readin' blogs and commentin', but
I know all my sweet friends out there will let it slide.
You see...this week somethin' very sad happened
for my school...we lost one of our own
to the awful "C word".
Mary Martin's laugh could be heard
anywhere in the school.
She had the best sense of humor and
was the strongest person I've seen dealin'
with this sickness.
She came to school every single day without a complaint,
even when goin' through chemo.
Mary dedicated her life
to all the babies she ever taught, her daughter,
and the rest of her family and friends.
On Friday, her sweet second graders let go
of ballons with a message to Mrs. Martin in Heaven.
Their sweet innocence while gigglin' left many
teachers and older students with flowin' tears.
Yesterday we celebrated her life and it was beautiful.
Mary was a huge Auburn football fan.
Everyone wore orange and blue and it made my heart smile
when everyone shouted "War Eagle, hey!" for Mary.
She will be missed, but never forgotten.
This was hard, but I was happy to see
my school band together, as they always do
when one of our "family" is hurtin'.
To any of my co-workers readin' this...
I love you!

Since I'm behind...I am doin' two link-ups at once.
Thank you Tara for hostin' Monday Made It

http://4thgradefrolics.blogspot.com/

and Joanne for hostin' Spark Student Motivation Saturdays.

Love these ladies.

I wanted to do somethin' sweet this week for my babies
that would cheer everyone up and keep them motivated throughout
the week of Valentine's Day.
I made a little pit stop at Dollar Tree today
and picked up a few things (Joanne...are you proud?)
I got enough for our 3rd grade buddies also.
I'm goin' to have the kids write their names on the lil' heart boxes
where they will store the pink heart gems
they earn throughout the week.
I don't really have a set plan for what they will earn them for,
but I'm sure they will have some ideas when they see them.
The table scatter hearts are for the tables durin' our
Valentine's celebration.

On Valentine's Day I will let them buy a special treat
with their gems.
Maybe these will work?
Again, I will let them choose what
the gems are worth.
The kids are more creative than I am
and it will be interestin' to see if they agree with me or not.
1 gem=treat bucket
2 gems=ten minutes free time on device
3 gems=extra recess time
4 gems=free choice
I am goin' to let them keep the gems to take home.

I also bought these pink glitter stickers and a
photo frame to stick them on.

I'm goin' to give this to my best friend's niece
just because I love her and she likes sweet treats.
We took this picture yesterday on our way to the funeral.
She was adament about goin' with us.
She was ready four hours before we left.

Here's a Valentine's freebie for any of you that use
Behavior Beads
in your classroom.
Don't know what Behavior Beads are?
Read about them here.
"You melt my heart!"
"You're top dog in my book!"
"I'm "berry" proud of you, Valentine!"

to see everyone else's ideas.

Have a great week friends!
Hug your loved ones and your babies at school!

Psst...over here...click me to read some EXCITIN' stuff...

Have you heard the fantabulous news?
have reached 1,000 followers!
This is majorly excitin' stuff for my super-duper sweet friends.
I was jumpin' up and down and runnin' around in circles
when I found out.

They asked me to help them celebrate with them on Day 4...which is a HUGE honor!
I LOVE them...BIG time!

So...I'm contributin' somethin' I worked on for my rockstars over break.
We are still strugglin' a little with multiplication of decimals.
I don't know about your kiddos, but mine don't like worksheets.
They like to have somethin' visually appealin' and well...somethin' fun
that captures their attention while they are learnin' at the same time.
Task cards are perfect to practice math skills and keep the kiddos engaged.
I like to always have task cards or a math game in at least one of my centers each day.
I'm not even goin' to wait until Valentine's to use these because my kiddos
need practice of this skill NOW.
I figure hearts are appropriate any time of the year...don't you?
I wish I had pictures of my kids in action with these task cards, but I won't see my
kiddos for another day.
I'm sure you understand.

I think these turned out precious and I know my rockstars are goin' to LOVE them.

If you love them too, then be sure to hop on over to
Joanne's or Holly's blogs to enter the Rafflecopter.
Two of my other favorite bloggers are participatin' today also.
AMC at Looking from Third to Fourth and Nick from Sweet Rhyme-Pure Reason.
Love the both of them too!
Each day there is a new raffle for three products, from three different bloggers
as well as a raffle that ends on the 12th for a $50 Amazon gift card and a
Classroom Friendly Supplies Pink Pencil Sharpener.
Don't just go there today...go there EVERY day.
You won't be sorry...I promise.

Happy Sunday friends.
I hope you have a great first day back when you go back.
It's goin' to be 20 here tomorrow in the Panhandle of Florida.
I think that deserves a snow day for us Floridians!
I just wish my district agreed with me.
LOL!

Oh yeah, and...WHO DAT!
Saints Baby!
